I'd suggest these databases: Issues and Controversies, and Global Issues in Context.  Also, from our "Alden Library Databases Alphabetically by Title" list, try clicking Boston Globe (which sends you to ProQuest).  All three databases provide you with citations, too. I had good luck just now doing a quick search in all three databases, using keywords "prisons" and "overcrowded."

Do you know how to get into and use these three databases?  If not, contact me again and I can talk you through it.  It's easy!  If you have a phone handy, it might be easier and faster to do this over the phone.  I'm at 508.854.4366, and I'll be here until the library closes at 3:00 pm.

Good luck!
